River Arts Fest Artist Market

The RiverArtsFest Artist Market is dedicated to providing a vibrant marketplace for original handcrafted works of fine art and fine crafts produced by local, regional and nationally recognized artisans.   In our most recent event we received more than 300 applications  from  artisans across the nation.  In 2008, we expect to have more than 150 artists represented in our Artist Market.

Works on display in the market range from the traditional to the contemporary.  They include paintings in watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, and mixed media; drawings; photographs; woodcuts, intaglio, and other print techniques; collage; weaving and other fabric works; ceramics; basketry; woodworking; jewelry; glass sculptures; and works in beveled glass. Each work is an original piece of art.  

Artists participation is by invitation only.  Each artist is required to submit an application along with digital representations of their works and their booth display in advance.  These applications are reviewed by a panel of notable members of the Memphis a artistic community who have a vested interest in maintaining the highest quality of art on display and the success of the festival in general.   The jurors will then select the best of the best to exhibit their works during our event. 

This event is free and open to the public.  The invitation is for all the members of our immediate community and the surrounding region  to come see and and experience a wide variety of artistic expression.  The event is a street festival located in the heart of downtown Memphis in the Historic South Main Arts District.   In 2007, city officials estimated more than 40,000 people participated in the 2 day festival.

               10am to 6pm  Saturday November 1st
               10am to 5pm  Sunday November 2nd
